What Is Batch Renaming?

Batch renaming generates uniformly formatted new file names for multiple files at once, which is handy for organizing assets, archiving photos, or naming web assets consistently.

With rule chains you can do much more than numbering: clean up text, apply regular expressions, convert case, insert dates and sequence numbers — all in one pass.

How to Use

Rename your files in three steps:

  • Upload files of any type (up to 1000), or a whole folder.
  • Add rules and configure them; the preview updates instantly.
  • Fix any conflicts if needed, then click Download ZIP or copy the renaming list.

Tips

  • Rules run from top to bottom — use the arrows to reorder them.
  • Use the Sequence rule with a template like image_{n} for numbered names.
  • Renaming only affects the downloaded copies — your local files are safe.

Will this modify my local files?+
No. The tool only generates new names and packages copies for download — your original files are never modified.

How do I avoid duplicate names?+
Conflicts are detected automatically and highlighted in the preview. Use the Fix Conflicts button to automatically append (1), (2) and so on.
Are the extensions preserved?+
By default the rules apply to the file name only and the extension is preserved. You can switch the scope to Extension or Full name to apply rules there instead.
