Video frame extraction captures still images from a video at fixed time intervals, commonly used for asset gathering, content previews, and video analysis.

Powered by FFmpeg WebAssembly, this tool can decode formats like MKV and AVI that browsers cannot play directly, and batch-export them to multiple image formats.

How to use

Three steps to extract frames:

  • Set the extraction interval, output format, and width.

Tips

  • A 1-second interval with 1280px width is a good balance for most cases.
  • For smaller files, prefer JPEG or WebP.
  • For very long videos, increase the interval to stay under the 150-frame limit.

Which image formats can I export?+
Five formats are supported: PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, and TIFF. PNG is lossless and great for assets; JPEG is smaller for quick previews.
How do I set the extraction interval?+
The interval is how many seconds between each extracted frame. Smaller intervals give more frames for smoother coverage; larger intervals use less storage. To protect memory, a maximum of 150 frames can be extracted at once.
Are videos uploaded to a server?+
No. Videos are decoded locally in your browser with FFmpeg WebAssembly and never leave your device. First use downloads an ~30MB engine (cached afterwards).
